  6. Wildcat! 4.1 Offers Enhanced OS/2 Support

  8. BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 10, 1995 -- Mustang Software, Inc. (MSI) is
  9. introducing Wildcat! 4.1, the latest update to the world's most widely
  10. used bulletin board system (BBS) software. The new version features
  11. enhanced OS/2 support, a new multi-database file system and a full-screen
  12. ANSI-based file listing mode that makes browsing file lists easier for
  13. the caller.

  15.         With Version 4.1, Wildcat! has been upgraded to support direct
  16. communications with OS/2's serial drivers, improving performance for
  17. system operators (sysops) running Wildcat! as a DOS process under the
  18. OS/2 operating system. Wildcat! sysops can also now use intelligent
  19. multi-port serial cards from Digiboard, Inc. and other enhanced serial
  20. devices that have OS/2 drivers in an OS/2 environment, an option not
  21. possible in previous versions of Wildcat!

  23. Digiboard and FOSSIL Support Now Available in All Versions

  25.         Mustang has also added enhanced communication routines across its
  26. entire line of BBS products. The Wildcat! Single Line, MultiLine 10, 48
  27. and Platinum now support intelligent serial interface cards like the
  28. Digiboard PC/8e as well as other intelligent serial devices via a FOSSIL
  29. driver. This means the sysop no longer has to buy the $799 MultiLine
  30. Platinum version and can opt for the $249 MultiLine 10 to run up to eight
  31. lines per PC. This added connectivity, combined with the introduction of
  32. a MultiLine 48 package with a suggested retail price of $499, streamlines
  33. the entire Wildcat! line making it extremely simple for the sysop to
  34. decide which version is right for him or her.

  36. New Multiple File Database System Increases CD-ROM Portability
  37.  
  38.         Another key Version 4.1 feature is Wildcat!'s improved support
  39. for CD-ROMs via the ability to define "groups" of file areas on a
  40. Wildcat! BBS. A file group consists of any collection of file areas
  41. defined by the sysop and each group has a separate database. This makes
  42. adding a new CD-ROM of downloadable files to Wildcat! as simple as
  43. "dropping in" a pre-made database.

  45.         "With the new file system, Wildcat!'s file databases are much
  46. more portable and managing multiple CD-ROM disks is simplified," said Jim
  47. Harrer, president/CEO of MSI. "We have created a system that gives the
  48. sysop many of the features of popular CD-ROM doors without sacrificing
  49. the speed and ease-of-use built into Wildcat!"

  51.         Groups can be selected by the caller for listing, searching and
  52. transferring files. The sysop's job of processing requests for off-line
  53. files, such as those contained on a CD-ROM not normally kept online, can
  54. be automated with the upgraded version of the wcFILE database utility
  55. included with Wildcat! 4.1.

  58. New Full-Screen File Listing Mode Also Added To Wildcat!

  60.         Wildcat! 4.1 also offers a new full-screen file listing mode,
  61. making it easier for callers to scan through the list of downloadable
  62. files. In "ANSI Lister" mode, users can browse through the file
  63. databases using their arrow keys and mark files for download by just
  64. hitting the space bar. Single-line, two-line and extended file listing
  65. modes are also available and each user can select the file listing method
  66. they prefer.

  68.         Importantly, Wildcat!'s "Internet-compatibility" has been
  69. improved as the software now allows blank "subject" headings on Internet
  70. e-mail conferences. Some e-mail systems require a blank subject heading
  71. for routing purposes.

  73.         Wildcat! BBS is offered in five separate versions, starting with
  74. the $129 Single Line package popular with the hobbyist sysop. The product
  75. line extends to the Wildcat! BBS Suite for $999, the most complete BBS
  76. solution in the industry.

  80. Wildcat! 4.0 sysops, the Wildcat! 4.1 update is offered for only $20 plus
  81. shipping. Sysops running Version 3.X or older can upgrade for $50 plus
  82. shipping.

  117.         The upgrade is covered under the Auto Update Plan and subscribers
  118. to the AUP will be shipped their upgrade to v4.1 automatically. All other
  119. orders for the upgrade will be shipped after the AUP subscriptions are
  120. processed. The upgrade is a considered a "Minor" release for Wildcat v4
  121. and includes feature enhancements. The price is $20 plus shipping and
  122. applicable tax for Sysops running Wildcat! v4.0 or later. For Sysops
  123. running Wildcat! v1, 2, or 3, the upgrade is considered a "Major" release.
